“Thankful is a understatement! Cara is the very best and made myself (and my husband) feel comfortable with the experience of child birth and breastfeeding. It far exceeded my expectations and was something so much more incredible then the hospital could offer. We learned so much, she was so personable, funny and truthful. My husband enjoyed it just as much as I did despite doubts before she arrived. Amazing to say the very least and so grateful that Cara was a huge part of the biggest day of our little families life. Thank you is not enough!”

“I was excited that Cara would be there to act as a doula for the delivery of my second child and son, Everett, but I didn’t fully appreciate her until after he was born. The amount of time from my first contraction until Everett arrived was less than 3 hours. It was such a whirlwind that there was no time for an epidural, and barely enough time for the doctor to arrive to catch the baby. In the weeks leading up to my delivery, I had imagined what it would be like, and felt pretty comfortable about what was ahead of me. I knew the different phases of labor, how to breathe, what positions could be the most comfortable to labor in, etc. But what I didn’t realize was that none of that mattered. The labor was so intense that I was almost completely incapacitated. I could understand what was going on around me, but couldn’t tell my hand to sign my name or make my body change positions. My limited knowledge of delivering babies was worthless, and I was just along for the ride. That is where Cara really shined. She was able to see and understand what I was going through, and made thoughtful, helpful suggestions to make things a little easier. With her depth of experience, she was also able to help my husband be the most supportive partner he could be. Being out of control was very unnerving, but it was very comforting and reassuring to have a competent, caring person like Cara looking out for me. She gave us peace of mind in a very disconcerting time, and that is something I wish every expectant parent could have. Thanks so much, Cara!”

“Cara was extremely professional and easy to work with. Her support during labor helped the patient through breathing techniques, relaxation, positioning, and transition. I enjoyed watching the trust built between Cara and her client — it was a wonderful experience!”

“I got pregnant in April of 2013. Right from the get go, I knew that I wanted a completely natural, as little intervention as possible birth.  The more research I did during the early days of my pregnancy, the more I realized that a doula would be a necessity in achieving my goal.  We were led to Cara through her husband who is a mutual friend of my husband and I.  From the very first meeting in June of 2013, I knew that she was going to be amazing and a wonderful addition to the birth of our first child.  My husband and I have no family in the area, so her knowledge and help were going to be invaluable.  We felt completely at ease with her and the support she provided during my entire pregnancy was wonderful!  We met with her several times before I actually went into labor.  I went into labor at 2am in early January 2014 and she arrived at the hospital 2 hours after I was admitted.  She was there every step of the way and eased my mind and provided amazing comfort during the contractions.  She guided my husband so that he could be helpful and part of the birth experience also.  When our son was born around 4pm that afternoon, she stayed for another hour or two to make sure that we were taken care of and had everything we needed for the transition into parenthood.  I would absolutely recommend her to anyone I know who is getting ready to have a baby.  Thank you, Cara, for everything you did for us!”

“So I must admit that before I met Cara I had no idea what a doula was. I only knew my wife wanted to have someone come help with the birth. The whole birth process is already quite stressful and the thought of having a stranger there did not appeal to me. Of course I conceded and it was the single best decision I could have made. Cara is an excellent doula. She was the perfect balance between being helpful and letting my wife and me experience the birth as a couple. My wife was planning on having an epidural, but our baby came too fast so it was too late for that. This is where I am most thankful for Cara. I had no idea what to do to help my wife. All the videos we watched and books we read did not prepare me for it. Cara stepped in where I couldn’t and even told me things to do to help my wife. She was an advocate to help us communicate with the doctors and nurses. She was assertive when she needed to be, but always polite. I can’t say enough good things about Cara and what she did for us. This all coming from a guy who had never even heard of the word ‘doula.’”

Jonathan (Second-time Dad)

“What a wonderful doula! A single paragraph can’t describe how wonderful our experience with Cara was! As a first time father-to-be, it’s needless to say that I was pretty clueless about a lot of things. Cara did a wonderful job of making it her point to educate and inspire confidence in me and Mom. Her birthing class was very, very informative and comprehensive. She had some great demonstrations, helping us to better understand the anatomy of mom and baby, and how the birthing process works. When the time came, she was there immediately! She brought all kind of nifty things to the hospital and helped Mom stay comfortable in ways that I wouldn’t have thought of. She also pointed out a few things that we should ask the nurses and doctor, which turned out to be really helpful! She stayed all day (it was a very long day!) until our little angel was born, then she was there to comfort Mom and help with breastfeeding when everything calmed down afterwards. She even came by to see the baby and answer our questions the next day, and several times over our first few weeks as new parents. Having Cara as our doula was a wonderful experience, especially as first-time parents. We were both so happy to have her! Her level of commitment was off the charts; she always answered her phone, was always happy to help, and always respected our opinions. All expecting parents should have a doula like Cara!”

“I had an AMAZING completely natural vaginal birth…ALL because of Cara!!! I didn’t know that I wanted an un-medicated childbirth until around 33 weeks of pregnancy. After researching doulas, and meeting a few, I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with Cara. While waiting for my “due date”, Cara met with me several times and was ALWAYS available by phone, text, and email. She is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about ALL aspects of childbirth. There wasn’t a question that she didn’t know the answer to. When I finally went into labor, Cara was there for me in every way. First she supported me on the phone, and before I knew it, it was time to go the hospital, where she promptly met me. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!! The emotional and physical support Cara provided me was PHENOMENAL!!! She knew what I needed at every single moment!!! She reminded me to snack, drink, use the bathroom, and try countless positions to help alleviate my pain. She reminded me to breathe and relax. We used the birth ball, water, and counter pressure to assist in progressing and easing my labor. Not only was she there for me, she also knew how to help my husband, and advise my husband on how to help me. She listened to me yell out her name and cry about how much it hurt…all the while consoling and supporting me. She was my #1 cheerleader, giving me the confidence I needed to endure the process. I could NOT have had a natural childbirth with Cara!!!! Her expertise, guidance, support, love, compassion, and knowledge were invaluable assets. She took pictures right after he was delivered and stayed to help me with all the overwhelming emotions and provide newborn and breastfeeding support. She was also there for me postpartum. I cannot say enough positive things about Cara. She’s an EXCELLENT doula and I’m SO VERY GLAD I had her for the birth of my son.”

Penny (First-time Mom)

“My experience with Cara as my doula was awesome. She went above and beyond to prepare me for what was to come (labor). She gave great birthing class that really helped me to understand what my body was going to do. I ended up having a c-section but was in labor and Cara was the only one who knew how to comfort me because she knew what I was going through. She also reminded me that I was in charge of my body and labor and if I didn’t feel comfortable doing something don’t do it. She was very supportive through it all and even followed up with me after the baby was born. I couldn’t have done it as comfortably as I did without her. I would recommend Cara to anyone who is looking for a doula. She will go over and beyond because she really does care! Thank you once again Cara, I’m glad you were a part of the most important experience in our lives.”

We got pregnant in April 2013. We didn’t have any family and only a few friends in our area after moving here from Nebraska two years earlier. I had no idea what a doula even was until we were introduced to Cara. My wife wanted a completely natural, vaginal birth but I knew she’d need some support and I knew NOTHING about childbirth or how to comfort my wife through it. I knew Cara would be of great help to us. Cara visited our home twice to teach us about childbirth, pain management, techniques and great general information about what to expect the day of. The entire pregnancy, she was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had and she became our number one resource. She made herself available to us 2 weeks before the birth and when my wife went into labor the day after her due date, Cara was the first person we called. She was at the hospital less than an hour after we got there and did an amazing job. She brought great tolls like the birthing ball, snacks, and of course, her great experience and knowledge. Being completely inexperienced, I kept asking Cara questions about things the doctors or nurses suggested or talked about and she was quick to clear things up. I have to say that knowing Cara was there put my mind at great ease. I felt much safer knowing she was there to help us get through this. I know for a fact my wife would not have been able to have the birth she wanted if not for Cara. Thanks to Cara’s knowledge, suggestions, techniques and care, my wife was able push through the pain and bring our son into the world the way she wanted. We would highly recommend Cara as a doula and if we’re still living in this area for our second child, we will definitely be hiring her again.

“Thanks, Cara, for your time, encouragement, and resources. I appreciate them all and had a better experience because of you. This delivery was easier than with India and Beau and I bonded earlier and sooner. Thank you!”

Leslie (Second-time Mom)

“Cara is a wonderful person to work with. Throughout my pregnancy, she was always available to contact for any reason we may have needed her.  Her gentle and kind personality makes for a great doula.  Cara’s professionalism, kindness, understanding, and knowledge led us through an all-nautural birth. She even stayed for a bit after the delivery to be there for myself, my husband, and our new son.  She gave us more instruction about breast feeding than the hospital’s own lactatuon consultant.  It wasn’t until after she left the hospital, did my husband and myself, realize what a great positive impact Cara had on the birth of our son.  We have no doubts that we want Cara to be with us for any other children we have in the future.”

–Stefanie (First-time Mom)

“Cara provided a refresher course for my husband and I because it was our second time around. The course was much needed and contained relevant and up-to-date important information based on our family’s needs. Cara not only made us feel comfortable but was very knowledgeable about all things baby and birth. I would highly recommend Cara to anyone having a baby (1st baby or 5th). She is awesome!”

Jennifer (Second-time Mom)

“Cara Terreri is a wonderful doula. She wants to help make the birth of your child the one that you want. She isn’t pushy and interventions are not a problem, it is in all about you, your partner and the birth experience. Cara is also extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of pregnancy, delivery and post-partum. She was excellent when the low intervention delivery we had planned to happen in several weeks turned into an emergency cesarean section, she was able to be there quickly (we were a 45min drive away) on very short notice. Cara was an invaluable source of support. We highly recommend Cara as a doula.”

–Amanda (First-time Mom)

“Thank you so much. We not only learned a lot but truly enjoyed ourselves in your class, so much so we gave you a big FB shout out along with a pic of your biz card. Thank you again for everything.”

  1. If you’re considering a doula for your birthing experience look no further! Cara is passionate about childbirth which makes her stand out in her field. She dedicated so much time and resources to help my husband and I achieve our birthing preferences. We were so impressed with Cara’s professionalism while at the same time making us feel as comfortable as life long friends.
